Peace & Social Justice Ministry

This ministry seeks to raise the consciousness of parishioners by educating and informing on the various issues of Catholic social justice. We seek long term solutions to the poor and vulnerable and follow the footsteps of Pope Paul VI who proclaimed: “If you want peace, work for justice.”

This ministry meets every Monday in the Pastoral Center from 7 to 9pm

Coordinator: Noel Toro

Beginning March 2016, our parish will have an opportunity to follow Jesus by serving the poor and vulnerable in a practical way. We will be partnering with the Family Promise program to provide temporary housing and other assistance to homeless families in our local region.

WHAT IS FAMILY PROMISE?

There are 178 Family Promise affiliates in 41 states across the country. Family Promise’s mission is “to help homeless children by assisting their families to stay intact and to regain stable housing and employment within a supportive, volunteer-driven community.” Family Promise holds dear the core values of hospitality, empowerment, compassion, mobilizing communities, and hope.

OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO SERVE TOGETHER

This is a great opportunity for us as parishioners to serve together. It’s a wonderful way for our families to participate in ministry, instilling in our children the care and respect that God has for the poor and vulnerable. We are also asking that different parish ministries sponsor a day on which to provide meals and other materials or services for the families who will be staying with us. This is a chance to exercise any gifts or talents you might have for the benefit of neighbors who are trying to transition out of a difficult situation.
